FAQs

When will my order be delivered?

For beef orders with we use DPD next day delivery. We only despatch these orders on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Therefore if you order on a Saturday, your order won’t be shipped until Monday. Once we have dropped your box off at the DPD depot you will receive an email where you can track the status of your order. Orders should be received within 24hrs, if longer the boxes are rated to keep your beef frozen for 72hrs.

For local delivery orders, these are only delivered on a Saturday morning and only within County Longford. Please provide a mobile number when you place your order and we can provide you with a delivery time to ensure you are around when the delivery is made. Orders will be left in an appropriate place wherever possible if no one is around and contact can’t be made.

Merchandise orders are sent using AnPost and are despatched Mon-Fri the day after ordering.

Why is delivery so expensive?

Unfortunately to ensure the beef gets to you still frozen we have to use next day delivery and quality packaging that costs more. We don’t make any money off this charge!

Family Box is out of stock?

From time to time we may run out of stock of certain cuts of beef and therefore we can’t offer the full family box. If you’d like to give us a call or send an email we’d be happy to create a different box. Otherwise the Family Box will be back in stock in a week or so when we receive fresh beef back from our butcher.

Do you have fresh beef available as well as frozen?

Yes. Fresh beef is available every time we collect an animal back from the butcher. This is generally every Friday and Saturday but keep an eye out on social media to make sure!

Can I just turn up and buy beef/products?

Yes of course. We have a generous stock of beef available straight from our shop. If you’d like to come outside our usual opening hours please give us a call and we’d be happy to accomadate!

Will I meet FARMER PHIL?

As much as Phil would love to be around and meet everyone he’s a busy man working, providing the content for the videos! If you’re very lucky, Phil may be around but we can’t promise anything!

Do you butcher your own beef?

No. Whilst we would love to keep everything at home, this is one thing we don’t have the skill nor time for! Our cattle when fit are sent to Gilligan’s Farm in Roscommon only 30mins down the road where they are processed before we pick them ready to come back home and into the shop.

Why Dairy-Beef?

There is often the misconception that Dairy-Beef isn’t of the same calibre as continental beef breeds. As a family we completely disagree, after eating our own animals over the years there is nothing as special as a lovely bit of jersey or friesian to melt in your mouth. But you’ll just have to try it for yourself!

My beef has arrived but is no longer frozen?

In the unfortunate event this happens please do get in touch with us either by phone or email. We’ll establish what’s gone wrong to make sure it doesn’t happen again and be able to offer you a refund or replacement within reason.

Is all the beef our own?

Yes. The beef is 100% our own, reared on our own farm - off grass and a ration of at least 70% home grown feed. If you’d like to know exactly what you’re eating you’re in the right place! Check out our ‘What’s my beef?’ page and look up the batch numbers on your beef to see. Feel free to ask in store if you’d like a selection of beef from different breeds!

How long is the beef hung for?

Our beef is hung for 2-3weeks before processing, depending on the animal and the fat cover.

Can I make a Custom box to get delivered?

Yes 100%. If you don’t see a Family Box on the website that you think suits, then please give us a call or send an email and we’ll happily make up a custom box for you. we recommend between 6-12 items in order to fill a box to ensure the meat stays frozen for delivery.
